Betting on cricket is entertainment that costs money, the same way a cinema ticket does. The difference is that betting can create the illusion that the money is coming back. For most people it stays entertainment. For some it becomes a problem, and the slide is gradual enough that they are the last to notice. This page sets out what we do about it and what you can do yourself.
Any of these is a reason to stop and talk to someone:
Message us on WhatsApp and say you want to close your ID for gambling-control reasons. We confirm, withdraw any remaining balance to your registered account, and close the ID. You can choose a period of one month, three months, six months or permanent. We keep a record so that a new request for an ID during that period from the same number is refused.
Talking to someone is the single most effective step. Options include a trusted family member or friend, your family doctor, a counsellor or psychiatrist (many now offer telephone and video consultations), and national mental-health helplines that take calls about gambling. If money problems are already serious, speak to your bank about restructuring before missing an EMI. None of these conversations is as bad as you expect, and all of them are easier than another month of losses.
If you believe a family member is playing with our IDs beyond their means, contact us. We cannot share account details with you, but we can speak to the account holder about limits and self-exclusion, and we will take a report of a minor seriously and act on it.
Questions about any of this: the contact page has the details. Read also about us.
